Carrying Forward Chinese Traditions and Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival Together
The Fragrance of Zongzi Leaves Welcomes the Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival, celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, is one of China's most important traditional festivals.
With a history spanning more than 2,000 years, the Dragon Boat Festival is deeply rooted in Chinese culture. According to legend, the patriotic poet Qu Yuan drowned himself in the Miluo River out of concern for his country and people. Local residents raced out in boats to search for him and threw glutinous rice into the river to prevent fish from harming his body. Over time, these acts evolved into the traditions of dragon boat racing, eating zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and wearing fragrant sachets.
Today, the Dragon Boat Festival not only represents the preservation of Chinese cultural heritage but also conveys wishes for health, peace, and prosperity.
